Making Music

Christopher is left-handed. He has always played his toy guitar left-handed, which is, of course, incorrect. Last weekend, we found a very affordable used (full-size) left-handed guitar for him from Craigslist. He's crazy about it, and he's been playing it constantly. I think we may be ready for some guitar lessons....

Happy Mother's Day!

Sarabeth made me a card today for Mother's Day. Inside was a poem:

Happy Mother's Day to you;
You live in a zoo.
Ha, ha! You really do!

Actually, it often feels like a zoo.... (but I sure do love the inhabitants)!

Me and my best girl...

Our attempt at a serious picture....
My two babies!

Dyslexia

When Sarabeth was seven, she spent a day at work with Chet as part of the national "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work" event. Chet is a buyer at Gordon Food Service, so he spends his work days buying food, specifically "center of the plate," or main dish items, such as beef, poultry, pork, seafood, and other entrees. Around lunchtime, I called to check on Sarabeth. She was so excited to be a work with Daddy, and she happily told me all that she had been doing. Then she asked: "Mommy, did you know Daddy buys lion meat?" Very interesting... I had never heard Chet talk about buying meat from any wild animals. Hmm. Maybe this was a new item. Later I asked Chet if he bought lion meat. "No," he laughed, "but I buy several types of loin."

Strategy

Christopher was bothered by Lexi wandering around near his seat at the table while he was eating. He was afraid she would get his food. "Just don't make eye contact with her," I suggested. He responded, "Well, she has eye contact with my crackers!"

Vocabulary

Sarabeth, at the Dutch Village carousel: "I'm going to choose the most beautiful steed!"

Sarabeth, at Salt & Pepper, waiting and waiting for our server to bring the check: "I will smite that waiter if he doesn't get here soon!"

Sarabeth, in her best Southern accent, when asked what they say at Chick-fil-A: "My pleasure!"
