Chet lost two-and-a-half-year-old Christopher at church. Mommy was a little upset.
In the car on the way home, Sarabeth asked, "Why is Mommy upset?"
Chet answered, "Mommy's mad because Daddy can't take care of Christopher."
Sarabeth argued: "Daddy can take care of Christopher. Just not when he's doing something else."

You're Right
Six-year-old Christopher: "Daddy, don't say 'yeah.' You're not supposed to say 'yeah.' It's actually funny that grown-ups do a lot of things they're not supposed to."

Medical Concerns
Two-year-old Christopher received a candy sucker at an event he attended. Five-year-old Sarabeth was very upset about this sucker!
"Mommy, don't let him eat it! He'll get sugar on his teeth and then he'll get 'calories' and have to get a shot in his mouth at the dentist! Throw it away, Mommy! Don't let him eat it! If I was his mommy, I wouldn't let him have it!"

Honesty
Several years ago, my brother Kevin told almost-three-year-old Sarabeth on the phone how excited he was to see her when our family drove down to Tennessee for his wedding.
She responded: "I realize that."

Please Define
Sarabeth asked to use my computer this afternoon, to watch a new little video on Barbie.com. I told her she could watch the video when I was finished with my work online... I told her I would be done soon.
Her reply: "Is that a real soon or a Mama soon?"

Do Not Disturb
Christopher instructed me on a Friday evening: "Tell Daddy not to wake me up early tomorrow. One time he spoiled one of my dreams and it was a really, really good one; and one time I was really tired and really asleep. So, tell him not to wake me up early tomorrow."

Fashion Sense
Recently, Sarabeth wore a shirt tucked into her shorts, but no belt. I told her she should wear a belt if she tucked her shirt into shorts that had belt loops.
Her response: "Mommy, I don't follow trends. I set them."
